David Vine began his career in the newspaper business during the late 1960s, a time of great turmoil in America. While in high school he was a freelance photographer and was later employed as a reporter and a photojournalist at two Connecticut newspapers, the New Haven Register and Danbury News Times respectively. Following this he resumed his freelance activities which eventually led to work as a licensed private investigator in Atlanta, Georgia.
During the late 1970s and early 1980s he was employed as the Public Information Officer for the Dade County Aviation Department with offices on Miami International Airport. He served in a liaison role working with any organization that had official business at one or more of the Department's five South Florida airports. He established many contacts in civilian, defense and government sectors. During this time he added instrument, commercial, commercial multi-engine and flight instructor ratings to his private pilot certificate.
He established a consulting business in 1981, David Vine Associates in Wilmington, Delaware. A year later he traded in a typewriter for a 300-baud modem-equipped microcomputer. His work progressed from public relations and marketing to management consulting. He became a specialist using electronic information from various online and offline sources.
During the early 1990s he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Thomas Edison State College and a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in strategic planning from Rowan University, both in New Jersey. From 1990 onward he presented talks and later seminars and workshops about obtaining and managing electronic information.
In 2000 CyberAge Press published his first-of-its-kind book: “Internet Business Intelligence: How to Build a Big Company System on a Small Company Budget.” Throughout his career he has published many articles in business and trade publications as well as professional journals. Over the years he has been active in, spoken to and honored by civic, business and professional organizations and he has taught at the college and university level.
Starting in 1996 Mr. Vine began conducting seminars and later workshops under the title of Internet For InvestigatorsTM. Since that time the seminar became a two-day workshop. His open-enrollment and in-house sponsored programs have enhanced the skills of more than 10,000 professionals in 47 states. He hopes to someday conduct a workshop in Montana.
Throughout the years he has witnessed unimaginable technological changes. His career spans newspaper Linotype to computer terabyte. Today his programs are presented live and via webinars. Recordings and other information products are for sale on his website.
He is constantly on the hunt for new and better tools, techniques, concepts and methods that will improve the status quo for his program participants as well as the management of his business and professional activities. Each workshop generally includes new and updated slides reflecting new developments, advancements and refinements involving practical use of Internet.
